Test ride

 

Tested new Crank Brothers Stamp 1 small pedals and brake wire adjustments on the 2004 Porsche Bike X this afternoon. Worked great!

BWI test loop

Took the 2004 Porsche Bike X out for a test ride to check out the handlebar adjustments and brake changes. Wanted to make sure everything is working properly. Good ride and I always forget how fast this bike is … no one passed me, again. 

Cycling shoes for 2023

 

I like the Adidas FIVE TEN TRAILCROSS LT mountain bike shoes. Thinking about getting these. Will match up well with the Crank Bros Stamp 1 pedals. 

Bike X 2023 conversion begins

 

Had some time today. So I started making the changes to the 2004 Porsche Bike X for the 2023 365-mile Erie Canalway Trail ride. I cut down the handle bars a half inch for more comfort. And I added a black cable housing on the top bar brake cable to prevent my frame bag from rubbing on it. I ended up with a frayed cable last year using that bag. While I was at it, I replaced and lubed the cable too. Next up, new saddle bag and pedals. Later I’ll tackle the cell phone holder and gravel tires. 

2023 Bike X gravel bike conversion

Here's my plan to turn the 2004 Porsche Bike X from a road bike to a gravel touring bike for a 2023 365-mile Erie Canalway Trail ride. Good winter project!

• Continental Terra Speed 700x40 gravel tires
• Crank Brothers Stamp 1 black small pedals
• SKS 11 liter Explorer Exp. Saddlebag
• SKS Compit/Stem+ smart phone support
• Cut down the width of the handlebars
• Add plastic tubing to the top bar brake wire

2023 planning

Sitting in the garage reminiscing about the many 2021/2022 rides and making a list of bike mods for next year's 365-mile Albany to Buffalo NY epic ride. New gravel tires, better cell phone holder, Crank Bros Stamp 1 pedals and handlebar cut down will be my winter projects in preparation.

PCA Open House

It has been challenging to find time to ride with all of these Porsche events happening across the country. Yesterday was PCA’s annual Open House event. My Boxster got a shady spot, with my early arrival. 

SCTF Day Three

Yesterday wrapped up the Porsche Sports Car Together Fest at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Lots of Porsches. Lots of fun.

Second day at the Sports Car Together Fest. Porsche racing around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway was epic. I got to meet NASCAR great Jeff Gordon as he was racing in the Porsche Carrera Cup race.
