34 follow up miles

Another nice winter day ride. Almost no wind 60 plus degree sunny day brought me outside for another ride. My conditioning isn't the best right now so I only rode 34 miles from the airport to Annapolis and back. But that's over 70 miles within five days. So I'm improving. I really don't expect to start increasing to serious mileage until spring time. Today was a beautiful day for a bike ride though!

Front cowl replaced

Doesn't look any different to the casual viewer, but the broken piece is replaced. The 2001 986 is like new again.

FedEx arrived

While riding the stationary bike, FedEx showed up at my doorstep with a couple boxes. My silly purchase of a Star Wars Jedi Training Remote droid and a replacement cowl for the Porsche 986 Boxster. A piece of the front plastic cowl snapped and is a little loose on one side. This happens with an older car. I'll swap this out tomorrow.

Christmas Eve 40

Getting a break from the stationary bike and winter weather, I was able to get on the 1998 Porsche Bike S for a 40-miler from the Baltimore airport loop down to Annapolis and back today. It was a sunny high 40s with a light breeze. I haven't ridden that far in awhile, but my legs and rump felt good for the first 20 miles, likely thanks to the stationary riding. But the second half of the ride felt cold and I ran out of energy not having much to eat. So I'm in need of more and better training for the 2020 C&O ride but it's still early.

More Porsche x Star Wars

At The Rise of Skywalker red carpet event, Porsche had a 5' model of the new Tri-Wing S-91x Pegasus starfighter spaceship that was a collaboration between Porsche and Star Wars designers. Porsche also had a special Star Wars liveried 99X Electric Formula E race car and the new Taycan on display. I hope the S-91x spaceship makes it into a Star Wars show in the near future ... and a scale model I can purchase!

Inside training

My goal of riding the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Towpath in 2020 remains of high interest. The winter has made riding outside a little more challenging so like years past, I've move my training inside. This winter though I'm combining my training with watching Star Wars. The new Porsche x Star Wars starship has got me all excited about both brands.

This is the droid you're looking for...

Continuing with the Porsche x Star Wars interest of late, I purchased a D-O droid and preordered a baby Yoda called “The Child” online. To be authentic, the D-O needed the antenna added so I used RC car and bicycle parts to complete the project. The end result looks good. Feel like a kid again!

Winter is coming

This morning I put on the Cayenne winter tires and rims. I think my summer tires could have just completed their last season.

Here's how my new T-shirt design turned out on a shirt. And my original Taycan drawing for reference.

Goodbye to the Bike FS

Feels like I've had this bike in my garage forever. After replacing the brakes, shifters, tires, tubes and shocks, it was time to give back to the bike's owner. Tonight I'm handing it back off. Goodbye my friend. Ride on!

Porsche 917 LH "Hippy" in Pennsylvania

Driving up to New Jersey to hand off Dennis' rebuild 1998 Porsche Bike FS, I stopped in Pennsylvania to see the famous and ultra rare 1970 Porsche 917 LH "Hippy" race car. This is one of three long tail 917 prototypes ever built. This car finished second at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and was shown in the Steve McQueen Le Mans film. I found out this car was at the Simeone Auto Museum and have been trying to get over to see it ever since. This is one beautiful car! I even brought along my new Hot Wheels Porsche 917 LH with matching livery to use in the photos.

Porsche Star Wars, part four or maybe five

I can't keep up with all the Star Wars Porsche stuff these days! I ordered the Blue Ace from the cartoon Star Wars Resistance. The Blue Ace starship was designed to mimic the Porsche 917K with Gulf livery. This photo shows the two Hot Wheels scale Porsche 917s and the Blue Ace. Hot Wheels doesn't always get the colors right, but the resemblance is striking.

Planes, trains, boats and automobiles

Porsche is everywhere these days. Porsche Design now has a hand in new electric planes, modern trains, high-end boats, of course automobiles and even Star Wars. It's a good time to be a Porsche enthusiast.

Erie Canalway Trail completed
