Follow my continuing passion to explore new adventures on Porsche bicycles. I have conquered a Century ride with a Porsche mountain bike, the Death Ride on a Porsche touring bike, the 184.5-mile Chesapeake & Ohio Canal Towpath in 2020, the 370-mile combined C&O/GAP trail in 2021 and the 237-mile Florida Coast to Coast ride in 2022. And just completed the Maryland and California Coast & Coast Porsche road bike adventure!

Gearing up
I’m getting geared up for the 185 mile Chesapeake and Ohio towpath ride (attempt) this fall. According to the website, I must have a bike bell and the Paw Paw tunnel is completely dark, so a bike light is needed. I’ll also have to contend with different temperatures and possibly rain, so I purchased the German-made Ortlieb 11 liter saddle pack to hold all my rain gear and extra clothes and supplies.
1998 Porsche Bike S for sale
1998 Porsche Bike S for sale
A friend of mine in the Atlanta, Georgia area is selling a 1998 Porsche Bike S. This bike is in good shape with recently refurbished forks (with new elastomers) and new mountain bike tires. This bike still has the original seat and stock reflector set. The 1998 Bike S also has the upgraded forks (with heavy duty spring) and updated grip shifters, that the previous model didn't include. The frame is the medium size and fits people up to 6'2" This is a good buy at the asking price of $975.00. If you're interested, message me and I'll get you in touch with the seller.

C&O training, Day 1 of 3
With my 2020 Porsche Bike S goal of riding the 185-mile Chesapeake and Ohio Towpath, I need some practice riding three consecutive days. So, today I rode 20 miles around the dirt and paved paths of the Patuxent Wildlife Refuge. 20 miles is short compared to the 60 miles I'll need to average doing the C&O, but I need to start somewhere. Tomorrow I'm planning another 20 miles with two loops around the BWI airport loop.

C&O Canal Towpath trail map
I’m still hoping to ride the 185-mile C&O Canal Towpath this fall. To keep me motivated I hung a trail map poster on the kitchen wall. I’m planning the three-day ride averaging 60 miles per day. The map is helping me figure out the evening stops for lodging and beer.

Early morning Severn ride
I jammed a 6 mile ride at 14 miles an hour average early this morning around my neighborhood. Just a fun fast little ride up and down some hills doing a loop around Severn, Maryland.

Patuxent Wildlife Refuge mud ride
20 mile ride this morning around and through the Patuxent Wildlife Refuge. Rained yesterday so today was a mix of asphalt, dirt, mud, sand and water. I’m glad I got my rear tire splash fender on for this ride!

Custom Bike R build
My new friend and fellow PCA member sent me a photo of his Porsche bike build in progress. He bought a late 1990s Porsche Bike R road bike frame and forks and is building up a commuter bike. I love the brown leather saddle and handlebar grips ... very classic Porsche look! This will be a very unique and one of a kind Porsche bicycle. Can’t wait to see the final build.

24 Hours of Le Mans Virtual
Porsche won the GTE class in this weekend's 24 Hours of Le Mans Virtual sports car race. To celebrate Porsche's win in this first ever, fully sanctioned WEC sim Le Mans race, I turned a few laps in the GTE class winning car at the Le Mans circuit. Porsche victory, Porsche Bike S ride, Cayenne S drive and sim laps in the winning Porsche RSR … great Porsche day!
Patuxent Wildlife Refuge ride
Needing to increase my mileage and riding frequency to attempt the Chesapeake and Ohio Towpath ride later this fall, I went to the Patuxent Wildlife Refuge for my third day in a row bike ride. Looking for more suitable places to ride, I came across this wildlife area near my house. It was near perfect riding conditions with great weather and very few cars in this natural preserve. The only thing keeping it from perfect was the “wildlife loop” road wasn’t actually a loop. So I had to do a bunch of out and backs to get the mileage I wanted. Still, all in all this was a great ride today!

Gear-tuning ride
I needed to tune my gear shifting a little bit, so this morning I went out for a short ride to check my work from yesterday. Still need to do a little bit on the front derailer and the largest gear.

1990s Porsche bike shirt
A friend of mine just sent these photos of a shirt he got back in the 1990s featuring the original USA release of the Porsche Bike S and Bike FS. So cool he found it and sent me these images to add to this blog.
Post Pandemic ride
With the stay-at-home orders lifted, I rode the 1998 Porsche Bike S 22 miles on the Baltimore to Annapolis bike path this morning. It was a fun ride but my lower back started hurting. I’m gonna need to lose a few pounds and work my way back up to higher mileage again. The stay-at-home definitely put a dent in my cycling ability.
