1996 Porsche Bike S suspension fork rebuild, part 2

The elastomers showed up last week and I put the shocks on the 1996 Porsche Bike S back together. Below are the photos and instructions to resemble the forks.
It's important to reference the photos taken of the elastomer stacks to resemble the forks. Just grease the elastomers and place the spacers accordingly.
On the 1996 Bike S, you have to drop the elastomers stack from the top...
...then push up the lower elastomers from the bottom.
Then re install the lower fork tubes and put the tire and brakes back on. I have found it is easiest to re install the lower fork tubes by laying the bike on it's side so the elastomers do not fall off the elastomer rod.

  1. Hi Enjoyed reading your blog.
I have a Porsche FS Mountain bike in excellent condition. Where should I list it for sale?

  2. Hey John, eBay seems to be the best place to sell Porsche bikes. It’s where I buy all of mine. There are other bikes for sale making it a good market place. Other option is the PCA national magazine “Panorama.” I’ll bet you’ll sell it. Good luck!

  3. Hi, this post was really helpful with me finding the elastomers and taking the fork apart. My only question is there diagram for the order or installing the elastomers, especially on the lower portion? The elastomers were like dry bread and crumbled when I took them out so I have no idea for the orientation of the lower portion. Thank you in advance!

    1. Depends on which shock model you have. Take a look at this post:
