Follow my continuing passion to explore new adventures on Porsche bicycles. I have conquered a Century ride with a Porsche mountain bike, the Death Ride on a Porsche touring bike, the 184.5-mile Chesapeake & Ohio Canal Towpath in 2020, the 370-mile combined C&O/GAP trail in 2021 and the 237-mile Florida Coast to Coast ride in 2022. And just completed the Maryland and California Coast & Coast Porsche road bike adventure!

New crest installed
Using two-part epoxy, I installed the new crest on my 1998 Porsche Bike S. The original flew off while riding two days ago. With an 18 year old bike, stuff happens including breakdowns and parts falling off. Problem is no one makes parts for this bike anymore. So instead of an original Porsche crest, I had to buy a newer version from the dealership. I hope this one stays on. My high strength glueing skills are not that good!

Tour De Tahoe, September 11, 2016
Using MapMyRide.com, I mapped out the Tour De Tahoe event course. The elevation gain over 72 miles doesn't look too bad, albeit at a rather high elevation. I am guessing it will take me five and a half hours to ride with another 45 minutes to an hour at rest stops. Two weeks until the event. I am getting excited to ride around Lake Tahoe!
Next bike!
I found this shiny chrome frame Porsche Bike RS photo on the internet. I must have this bike! This would look amazing next to the chrome rims on my Boxster!
3rd of 3 Porsche Bike S 25-mile rides completed
This morning I completed my third and final 25 mile bike ride to complete my three consecutive days of 25 mile bike rides. This morning was a back to back as I rode 25 miles last night and again this morning. My legs are sore, but after riding 75 miles on tired legs I feel like I am totally ready for September 11's 72 miles around Lake Tahoe. The good news is, my shifting was a little wonky last night. I had a hard time getting into my highest gear. Last night I did some adjustments and all of that worked out just fine this morning. I think The Porsche Bike S is shifting better now than it ever has. I just hope it holds together for a couple more weeks!

2nd of 3 Porsche Bike S 25-mile rides completed
I re-pedaled my route and couldn't find my missing Porsche emblem. It's gone, gone, gone. I'll install my newer crest Wednesday. Tonight I rode 25 miles back out to Stampede Reservoir and completed my 2nd of 3 25 mile rides in preparation for the Tour De Tahoe 72 mile ride. Tonight was cloudy and a little muggy. The 80 degree temperature cooled as the sun went down and the sunset was beautiful. Tomorrow morning is 3 of 3 25 milers.
1st of 3 Porsche Bike S 25-mile rides completed
In preparation for the Tour De Tahoe 72-mile ride around the beautiful Lake Tahoe September 11, I decided to taper down the next two weeks with some shorter rides. Yesterday, today and tomorrow I will ride 25 challenging miles which will equal the Tour De Tahoe distance over three days. Then I'll take two days off and ride an easy 30 miles this weekend. Next week will mostly be shorter rides to keep the legs loose.
Now here is the awful part. Last night when I rode over a big bump, the Porsche crest flew off the bike! Yes, I am heart broken. I heard the metal emblem hit the bike frame. At first I though a rock flew up from the tire and hit the frame. Happens all the time. But when I got home, I found the Porsche crest missing! I drove back to the same spot in my Cayenne and looked around with a flash light with no success. I plan to retrace my pedaling tonight, riding my 2nd of 3 25-mile rides and see if I can find it.
A Porsche without a Porsche crest isn't a good thing to a Porsche enthusiast. So, I already have a back up factory made crest ready for mounting - if I can't find the original!

Weekly Porsche Bike S training accomplished
Last Saturday I rode 60 Tahoe miles in preparation for the Tour De Tahoe 72 mile around the lake ride. This week I wanted to ride that same Tour De Tahoe distance across consecutive days. I got hung up and missed a day midweek but was able to accomplish the 72 miles across five days. This morning the last 11 miles. Next week, after two rest days off, I plan to ride 75 miles across three days. 25 on Sunday, 25 Monday and finishing with 25 miles on Tuesday. This is all part of my tapering effort for my Porsche Bike S Tour De Tahoe ride on September 11.

Sunset Porsche Bike S ride
Sticking to my weekly ride plan, I just completed 25 miles. I didn't have time to ride in the morning, so I went out for a sunset ride. 25 miles to Stampede reservoir and back home. Tomorrow is an easy 12 miler and then two rest days. I don't like rest days. I like riding my 1998 Porsche Bike S. But I need the rest to recover in preparation for the Tour De Tahoe September 11.

Another 25 miles around Donner Lake on the Porsche Bike S
Sticking with this week's training plan, I rode 25 miles out and around Donner Lake. Tomorrow I will do another 25 and then finish the midweek training with 12 miles on Thursday afternoon. That will complete the same distance I plan to ride my 1998 Porsche Bike S around Lake Tahoe September 11. Looking forward to the "Tour De Tahoe"!

Porsche Bike S tapering
I completed my longest ride of the month (60 miles) last Saturday so now I begin tapering down the miles for the 72 mile Tour De Tahoe bike ride event September 11. This week I'll ride 12 miles today, 25 tomorrow and Wednesday and 12 again Thursday. That will be 74 miles in four days. Roughly the same distance as the Tahoe ride, but with more rest in between. I look forward to riding my 1998 Porsche Bike S around Lake Tahoe!
