What a great ride! Another new bike route this morning. This time I rode 25 miles from Glenshire to Stampede Reservoir, and back, in the greater Truckee area before work. There was little traffic and I even stopped to watch some white Pelicans making their annual migration. The new route was very hilly with some steep sections. But the views were worth it. Tomorrow is a rest day and Saturday I plan to ride 40 miles over Donner Summit.
Follow my continuing passion to explore new adventures on Porsche bicycles. I have conquered a Century ride with a Porsche mountain bike, the Death Ride on a Porsche touring bike, the 184.5-mile Chesapeake & Ohio Canal Towpath in 2020, the 370-mile combined C&O/GAP trail in 2021 and the 237-mile Florida Coast to Coast ride in 2022. And just completed the Maryland and California Coast & Coast Porsche road bike adventure!

Donner Lake ride on a Porsche Bike S
I rode 24 miles out around Donner Lake and back again this morning. Weather was perfect, bike performed well. Definitely a lot of people coming into the Truckee area due to the holiday weekend. But the ride was awesome.

Easy 12 miles on the Porsche Bike S
I didn't have time for a larger ride or stopping for a photo today. Busy day but still snuck in a short ride. Tomorrow, 24 miles to Donner and back!

Porsche Bike S 40 miles to Tahoe City
A nice leisurely Sunday 40 mile bike ride from Glenshire to Tahoe City on my 1998 Porsche Bike S. Nothing abnormal to report, the bike is riding well and my legs are feeling stronger with every ride. I meant to attempt 50 miles today, but a late start and a crowded trail prompted me to turn around at 20 miles. Next week I'll get an earlier start and go for 50 miles!

Sierra Nevada Porsche tour
Me and my Boxster led a 24 Porsche tour of the Sierra today. We drove from Truckee north on 89 to 49 and down to Nevada City for lunch before driving 80 east back to Truckee. Along for the ride were 986, 987 and 981 Boxsters, several Caymans, many 911s, a 951 (944 turbo) and two Macans. Great weather and a great drive. Tomorrow I am riding my 1998 Porsche Bike S 50 miles back to Lake Tahoe. This will be an all Porsche weekend!

Another ride around Donner Lake on the Porsche Bike S
Another beautiful morning bike ride in the California Sierra Nevada high country. Again I rode out around Donner Lake and back to Glenshire. Amazing weather and scenery. 24.66 total miles. I didn't ride fast today, instead took in the sights and smells. I did have to stop and take a photo of my Porsche Bike S with some old gas station pumps in downtown Truckee though. I think I'll ride this route again tomorrow!

Porsche Bike S to Donner Lake
Sunday I rode to Lake Tahoe, this morning I opted for an early morning 24-mile ride out around Donner Lake and back. Again I started on the beautiful Truckee River Legacy Trail and through downtown Truckee. Then stayed on Donner Pass Road and out to Donner Lake. I left at 6am and avoided all the morning traffic. Temperatures were cool, but not cold. And no wind. Great morning for a ride! This little ride also put me over 1,000 miles on my Porsche Bike S!

Another Porsche Bike S personal best on the Truckee Legacy Trail
I just completed another quick 12-mile ride along the amazing Truckee River Legacy Trail. I rode my best time to date, averaging 15.3 mph. Not bad on a 1998 Porsche Bike S mountain bike considering I had a 20 mph headwind for six miles and had to dodge kids, dogs, cars, frisbees and women holding hands. I love riding this bike flat out on the smooth, hilly, windy and narrow paved path. It feels like the biking version of the Nordschleife. I know I can beat this time. On a warmer morning, I'll go out super early before all the cars and people and go for a record!

Truckee River Porsche Bike S ride
I ventured out on the Truckee River Legacy Trail bikepath tonight. I felt like going for a short and quick bike ride along the scenic trail. I brought out my 1998 Porsche Bike S for the journey. But halfway along my path I had to stop because inspiration hit me. I came up with an idea for my next story for the Porsche Club of America e-newsletter. So mid-ride I typed my notes on my iPhone, and then finished the ride back to my Truckee home. I'd call this a great evening!

The Ergon PC2 pedal
I mentioned this pedal in my last post. Since I am not a fan of the clip on pedals, I am looking for alternatives. The PC2 appears to be the high tech solution. Here are the details.

Porsche Bike S vs. Pine Pollen
I lung-busted a 14.8 mph, 12-mile bike ride on my 1998 Porsche Bike S - through what looked like a yellow fog. Yes, it is pine pollen season again in Truckee, CA. After the wet winter, this year's yellow mess is particularly bad. As I bombed along the paved Legacy Trail along the tree strewn Truckee River I could feel my traction giving way as my slick tires fought for grip through the yellow dust. Looking over the handle bars, the front tire looked like a yellow-green tennis ball. A couple times I thought I was going to eat it. I should have brought my 1996 Porsche Bike S with the studded mountain bike tires. All in all, this was my fastest ride along the Legacy Trail. I bombed the downhills and killed the uphills. But when I got home I was coughing up what looked like yellow smoke!
