Good track workout

A little windy, but good temperature for a track workout today.

Running again with the Porsche Design Endurance Boost running shoes around the Truckee High School track, I slightly beat my one mile time from last week. I'm working on consistency and was able to run a 7:32 mile. Not bad on stiff legs after riding an hour on my stationary bike in the garage.

I also ran a couple fast quarter mile repeats. My goal is to pick up the pace in October with two tracks runs a week.

Snow already?!?

The last couple of days had nasty weather. Wind, rain and even snow. About an inch or so in Truckee. So I was back in the garage on the stationary bike burning a few calories.

Today the sun peeked out for a spell so I did a track workout. I missed running in the Porsche Design Endurance Boost running shoes on the high school track.

I didn't beat my last mile time, but I ran a more consistent mile, which was my goal. I ran a 7:39 mile, then two 1/4 mile repeats in the same pace range.

Next week I plan to do two track days.

A friend sent me this photo...

Faster mile

Today was another track workout. After recuperating the lower right leg, I was able to run four miles pain free. And one mile I pushed it and ran a 7 minute, 7 second mile - my fastest this year. I've run faster. My fastest being a 5:15 mile. But that was a few years ago. I have to earn that speed back the hard way.

But today felt good and I'm back on track, literally and figuratively.

I again was running with the Porsche Design Endurance Boost running shoes. These shoes are great on the track!

Hello brother

I parked the 2001 Porsche Boxster 986 for a couple minutes and when I returned a red 987 Boxster was parked next to me!

Pine needle season

This morning I rode a quick and spirited little 12 miles along the Truckee Legacy Trail path. It's a paved path, but this time of year it's hard to tell with all of the pine tree needles on the trail. I'm glad I brought the 1998 Porsche Bike S mountain bike since the traction was somewhat limited due to the needles. The Porsche Bike X would have been treacherous due to the low tread but the mountain bike tires have excellent grip.

I pedaled as quick as I could. With cool temperatures and no wind, it was a fun ride.

I have two days off because of a busy schedule. But I'll be back at it Monday.

Easy does it

Today was an easy jog/walk with a quick half mile run to see if my lower right leg is recovering.

I left the Porsche Design Endurance Boost running shoes behind and did a few laps on the dirt path around the Glenshire pond. I ran in the Adidas trail runners to keep the Endurance Boost running shoes nice and clean.

The light jog and run went well. No pain and felt good, even when I pushed a half mile at sub 9 minute mile pace.

I'm going to bike again tomorrow, and with a busy weekend, I'll run again on Monday. I suspect that much rest will heal my leg and allow me to start pushing the pace again.

Congested Donner Lake ride

Riding out to Donner Lake and back on Labor Day wasn't the smartest thing I've ever done. Between Tahoe vacationers, returning Burners and Truckee folk, the roads were a snarled mess of cars. But on a bike I just flew right by them all! I had to be rather careful in spots, but the 25 mile morning ride overall was fun and fast.

I stopped at Donner Lake for a short break and another photo of the 2004 Porsche Bike X. Then pedaled on.

Groin and lower right leg feel good. Maybe that's all past me now. Fingers crossed. I plan to stretch a lot today, hot tub later tonight and two days of biking and stretching before my next run on Thursday.

Two races. Same time.

Maybe this morning's running didn't go so well, but now I'm watching two sports car races at the same time. The Porsche 919 Hybrid and 911 RSR are racing in the WEC 6 hour race in Mexico and a Porsche GT3R is doing well at COTA in the World Challenge.

Ouch, part 2

Hoping that everything would feel better after a day of massage and hot tub, this morning's Donner Lake run started great. The first 5 miles were at a good sub-ten minute mile pace. Even the groin issue from yesterday was gone.

Then the lower right leg acted up again causing me to mostly walk the last two miles back to the Cayenne. I need to rest it more and let it heal. I suppose that means more cross training on Porsche bikes!

I think I'll ride most of this week and do a short and easy three mile jog later in the week to see how I'm doing.

It's tough getting old...

Getting out of the Boxster this morning, I felt a slight strain in my left outer groin muscle. Just trying to hop out of the convertible and ouch! I was heading over to do a track workout. All the biking and running have left me with tight muscles and getting out of this low-to-the-ground sports car quickly in the early morning didn't help.

So I just did an easy 3 miles to see how it felt - which wasn't too bad. I could run but decided not to push the pace. I have a planned massage today so I'll see how I feel after and maybe try the track again tomorrow.
